a Third Place (March)

A Third Place March: Tending Grief

This event will be a two-part session, starting with a closed session for QTIPoC+ followed by lunch and then part-two which will be open to the public (but ticketed for non-QTIPoC+)

Part-one (12-1:30pm)

Camille Sapara Barton will be offering a session for QTIPoC+ exploring the connections between grief, rest and intergenerational trauma. Camille will speak to how embodied practice and ritual can support cultivating a sense of safety in the body to heal inherited or unaddressed wounds. These themes are highlighted in Camille's book, Tending Grief: Embodied Rituals for Holding Our Sorrow & Growing Cultures of Care in Community. This session will include (optional) somatic practices to ground and support the body, as well as soothing medicinal teas. There will be space for questions and discussion.

Lunch for QTIPoC+ (1:30-2:10)

A vegan-friendly lunch will be provided by Exhale.

Part-two (2:10 - 3:30)

This part of the event is open to all members of the public and a different floor of Transmission. If you prefer you can stay in the quiet space used for part-one for the remainder of the event.

In part-two, Camille Sapara Barton will explore their book Tending Grief: Embodied Rituals for Holding Our Sorrow & Growing Cultures of Care in Community. Written specifically to center and hold the grief of BIPOC and queer readers, Tending Grief is an invitation to reconnect to what we’ve lost, to find community in our grief, and to tend to our own suffering for our individual and collective wellbeing.

Camille will discuss the themes of the book, followed by an open Q&A with questions from the audience.
