Honouring our Queer Ancestors
ARGYLL CHAMBERS, LEVEL 5
34 Argyll Arcade, Glasgow, Scotland, G2 8BD
Please note: This workshop is for people who identify as both LGBT+ and BPoC only.
With the current sociopolitical landscape for Queer people declining worldwide, it is important for us to reclaim the narrative about our communities and remember that we are Queer and we have always been here!
For Queer people from the global majority, colonial narratives have been spread throughout our homelands to reject our existence but history shows us that there is a rich tapestry of gender and sexual diversity throughout the continents stretching back for as long as we know. Therefore, this workshop invites us to reclaim the narratives on Queer identities in Global Majority countries (Africa, Asia etc) by learning our history and imagining and honouring our Queer ancestors.
We will work with writing and drawing prompts to imagine who our Queer ancestors may have been and what we can do to honour them in our lives.
